Well this thing nearly killed me. I went completely insane. I saw a tutorial on the internet for one of these and then on a whim I decided I wanted one. Now these things are normally for little girls, and I can see why. You go insane if you try and make one for a full-sized one.
To give you an idea of how headachey this was to make: - most of the fabric is stash fabric, but a lot of it was plain so I painted and drew on quite a few of the squares. Most of the striped pieces are painted that way - The tiers go like this: Red: 14 squares Yellow: 21 squares Green: 32 squares Blue/Turquoise: 48 squares Indigo: 62 squares
There is no orange tier because getting lots of different shades of orange would be a) expensive and b) impossible. There's no purple tier because I HATE purple after being in a purple house for 5 years and being assaulted with purple.
The bottom hem measures 682 cm! It's a circle...and somehow I think the work was worth it. But I doubt I'll make one of these for a VERY long time.
Wow...I love it! But...Yeah...I can't see getting one of these without paying the person making it like...$250 xD Labor feeees

Yeah, haha, there are ways to make the sewing of this quicker but they a) require hardcore machines I don't have and b) require elastic, which costs money! I saw one of these patchwork skirts in the record/CD/music/merch store near where I am. It also sells vintage stuff, but it's WAY too expensive, like $40 for a pair of shorts or $65 for a basic dress. And it wasn't even very full, and it had a shitty elastic waist. I was like "mine's bettteeeeerr" Most of the fabric from this is scrap, and I love playing around with dyes/paint/fabric pens. I'm so cheap, ahaha.

DeviantART has partnered with FAIR to help promote equality through The Love Unites Shepard Fairey Equality Project. We're asking deviants to align themselves with this cause and have their work judged by Shepard Fairey himself!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
For those who have many watchers, and for those who dont have many, it is hard to know how one retains that interest as well as receive more. This article explores the basics of watchers and how we react to certain situations. Although it does not affect some deviants, and the tips are generally related to common sense, we hope the article is a worthwhile read and that the majority learn something from reading this.
The Deviousness Award is an accolade which is traditionally handed out on the 1st of every month to one trully outstanding deviant. `Cyantre is one of the most helpful deviants within our community. With a positive attitude and a resourceful mind, you can always find him providing support and encouragement to those in need. Always looking for ways in which he can get more involved in our community, John's positive presence is to be aspired to. A well respected poet, John is a must-have on your deviantWATCH to make sure that you don't miss out on your dose of community inspiration.
