Artist's Comments

Here everyone! A bit of horsey work to feast your eyes on!

OK. I wanted to do an Art Nouveau illustration..but...well..I failed. It looks more like something from a kid's book! Oh well. Looks nice enough anyway. This took me most of a weekend with watercolour and pen.
The horse is a gypsy vanner called Swanky :D which I painted from this photo [link] by :iconanubisu:

Art Nouveau is a lovely style...I just..didn't quite get there. Maybe I'll try again later.

Good Attempt. I think you got pretty close :)

Neeee, Louisa, I envy your painting ability.. >X3 It's so realistic, and just.. ugh, I love the contrast between the darker and lighter colours.. <3 And the texture (or are they drawn - those vertical lines? :o) just blows me away.

The outlining of the natural objects is ace, and is a good reflection of the Art Nouveau values ("Let's worship the earth! %D").. However, one of their predominant motifs was a line - one that would encompass the entire artwork, and was typically asymmetrical. It could also be either smooth and flowing, or powerful and bold (like a cracking whip)..

I'm not saying "omg th15 p13c3 suxx0rz" or anything (I reeeeally  it *__*) - this is just a pointer and I hope it helps. ^^ Kudos, and I can't wait to see your next attempt!

Just shut up and DRAW. 8D

Yeah :D I felt that I was sort of lacking in the "line" department, like those great swirly motifs or anything, the circles and all that. Wikipedia wasn't very good in explaining "art nouveau"
Thanks for the fave :D

The texture is just my paper.

I really like it, the mix of realism especially in the mane/tail, and the clean fine lines. Really pretty, I have respect for anyone who can use paints (whatever kind) :D

I can't do digital very well, except MS Paint and that takes aaaages :D but I have a copy of photoshop now so maybe I'll try.
(it's the latest one :D not licensed for resale cause my brother works at a macstore. So now I posess, not only photoshop but Monsieur Bricolage - an emac that cost $103!)
